About Long Lines Climbing

Long Lines Climbing is an active lifestyle and climbing brand created by Whitewater in 2022 to communicate and operate the offerings of the climbing and yoga complex in the classic Art Deco style Sioux City Municipal Auditorium in downtown Sioux City. The original complex opened to the public in 1950 and has undergone a series of renovations and adjustments to its core programming over the years.

Originally known as the Sioux City Municipal Auditorium, the Long Lines Family Recreation Center provides recreational facilities for individuals and organizations in downtown Sioux City under the ownership of Sioux City Parks & Recreation. The Center has courts for open gym, soccer, basketball, volleyball, in-line hockey, dodge ball, wrestling, and special events. The centerpiece of the facility is the world-class 53’ climbing complex and bouldering features to practice your rock-climbing techniques. The complex also includes conference rooms for meetings, parties and other events. Whitewater assumed operations of the climbing complex and yoga facilities in June 2022 to enhance the experience of the climbing gym and build additional programming, instruction, and events for the community of Sioux City in partnership with Sioux City Parks & Recreation.

About Whitewater

Since 2001, Whitewater has been fostering a connection with the active lifestyle. Whitewater’s mission is to facilitate access to this lifestyle by lowering barriers and inspiring people to engage in active experiences. This mission is rooted in the belief that all human beings share a genetic code that compels us to play.

Whitewater’s principal means of facilitation involves the preservation and management of resources designed to offer access to world-class activities. Whitewater currently programs and operates the U.S. National Whitewater Center, a 1,300-acre outdoor center on the Catawba River outside Charlotte, NC that features more than 35 different recreational experiences including whitewater rafting, climbing, mountain biking, ropes courses, and more.

In addition to recreational experiences, Whitewater delivers inspirational lifestyle content and resources through websites, films, written stories, mapping tools, articles, and journals to extend engagement opportunities beyond physical locations. These channels allow the public to identify with the outdoors and maintain a constant connection with the benefits of active pursuits.
